| Limit | Value | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Gross combination weight | Generally 40 tonnes | A higher threshold applies in combined transport |
| Usable length | Around 13.6 metres | Standard semi-trailer |
| Pallet capacity | Indicatively 33 euro pallets on the floor | Higher where cargo is stackable |
These look like technical numbers and they decide the cost: a load that exceeds capacity by two pallets does not pay two per cent more, it pays for a second vehicle. When an enquiry arrives with volumes close to the threshold we say so upfront, because reviewing the packing or the pallet height is often enough to stay inside it.
On cargo moving from Europe to Central Asia, or through Türkiye to third countries, transit time is decided not by distance but by what happens in the intermediate countries. If the goods are imported and re-exported at every border, declarations, guarantees and waiting days accumulate.
Under a properly structured transit regime the goods cross without being imported, and the day count changes fundamentally. Since Georgia joined the Common Transit Convention on 1 February 2025, the paperwork on the Caucasus corridor has become markedly lighter.
On a standard semi-trailer, indicatively 33 euro pallets on the floor, with a usable length of around 13.6 metres and a reference gross combination weight of 40 tonnes. Capacity rises where cargo can be stacked.
FTL is a full truckload: the vehicle is yours and moves direct. LTL is groupage: you pay only for the space you occupy, but consolidation and distribution add days. Above a certain volume a full truck can be both cheaper and faster.
Yes, with approved packaging, suitable vehicles and a compliant transport document. The assessment always starts from the safety data sheet, the UN number and the class.
Yes, with special trailers, route surveys and the necessary permits. This cargo has to be planned in weeks, not days.
Considerably. Crossing under a single transit operation, instead of importing and re-exporting in each intermediate country, removes declarations and guarantees. On long routings it is the variable with the largest effect on the day count.
A.TR shows that goods are in free circulation within the customs union, not where they originate. EUR.1 is proof of preferential origin. Some shipments need both, for different purposes.
Yes, export and import clearance and the movement and origin documents are handled in house. Splitting transport and customs between two providers is the setup that loses the most days.
Pickup and delivery addresses, number of packages, dimensions and weight, nature of the goods and the Incoterms rule. If the cargo continues beyond Europe, tell us the final destination: it changes which document should be issued.
If your volume is close to vehicle capacity, we tell you before you book. Send the routing, dimensions and weight; you get a single all-in cost, a realistic transit time and, where it helps, a packing suggestion.
